Nyah Lavina is a real life dreamer. She has had her mind set on being a singer from the age of 4. When she was little, she loved to put on performances, whether it was on an elementary & high school stage or in the middle of her living room. She even had her first recording studio session for her 10th birthday. At 16 years old, she took a leap of faith and tried out for America’s Got Talent by singing one of her original songs while playing the piano. Music has always been a part of her journey from a young age up to who she is today. Her music resonates with the passion and love for what she does. When listening to Nyah Lavina you will hear her not only as an artist, but as a person many can relate to. Her music can help you get through a rough patch and inspire you to be the best version of yourself. Her music is mostly compared to R&B, however, she also creates reggaeton and pop music. Nyah Lavina’s inspiration comes from several artists such as Ms. Lauryn Hill, Lady Gaga, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Adele, Bruno Mars, Selena Gomez, Jhené Aiko, SZA, H.E.R., Summer Walker, Ozuna, ROSALÍA, Bad Bunny, KAROL G, J Balvin, and Becky G.
She writes all of her music inspired from real life events, which also leads to melodic ideas as she creates each songs melody with the use of her guitar and piano. From writing since she was little to having her first release in 2020, It’s safe to say Nyah Lavina has never given up on her dream and has a lot more to come!
Tell us a bit about yourself and your music
My name is Nyah Lavina and I am 19 years old. I was born in Staten Island, NY, and I was raised in South Florida. My dream has been to become a highly successful singer from the age of 4. Not only am I a singer but I write all my songs and hope to write songs for bigger artists one day. My music is mostly R&B/Soul but I also create Reggaeton and Pop music. I am working closer to my dream every day one step at a time and enjoying the journey.
Describe your vibe in three words?
Confident, fun, and kind.
What was the creative process like getting your project to an audience?
I always start from a spark of inspiration. I write out how I feel at the moment, choose my chord progression on my piano or guitar and finally structure and format the song. It is important that I always try to get my songs to a point of perfection but to still have fun while doing it.
Who's your biggest influence or supporter?
That would be my mother. She is the one person that I am influenced and supported by the most. She pushes me every day to be the best I can be. That definitely plays into my personality and how I carry myself.
Where do you hope to be in 5 years?
My favorite question to answer! In 5 years, I see myself working on a 3rd album. Having recognition from people all over the world and from my favorite artists in the industry. I see myself giving back to my community and speaking out to younger generations about the importance of following their dreams. And the biggest goal of all is earning a Grammy. I'm definitely looking forward to some big collabs in the future as well.
Any up and coming gigs, projects or releases you'd like to shout-out?
Nothing I want to mention just yet, but to my fans, definitely be on the lookout and listen to my 3 newest singles; “Every Song Goes Out To You,” “Tell Me Why,” and “Into Your Heart."
Thank you for having me!
